Overseas Passenger Terminal

Willis Bond & Co has entered into an agreement to lease and develop the unique finger wharf site in Wellington, where the Overseas Passenger Terminal is currently located. This is a landmark site and we consider it a privilege to be given the opportunity to revitalise arguably Wellington’s premier location.

The redevelopment will comprise retail on the ground floor (cafes, restaurants, maritime), with approximately 80 premium apartments at the upper levels. Car parking for the apartments will be entirely self-contained either under the wharf or inside the building envelope. The wharf promenade will be refurbished and the public will also enjoy new amenities (a viewing deck at mezzanine level and a lower level jetty, both at the northern end).

Resource consent was granted by Greater Wellington Regional Council in May 2008 and the decision was upheld on appeal by the Environment Court in June 2009. We anticipate that marketing will occur in Spring/Summer 2010/2011. The project team includes Athfield Architects, LT McGuinness Contractors and Dunning Thornton Engineers.
